Program Overview

The Construction Technology program is designed to prepare you to be valuable members of a construction team. You will learn construction and shop safety, math for construction and measurement, correct use of hand and power tools, and build small structures and buildings. You will also receive industry-level credentials recognized by OSHA and NCCER. Both construction theory and hands-on learning are combined to give students a variety of skills and knowledge in the industry.

Students who complete the Construction Technology Program option are employed in:

  • Cabinet Shops
  • Construction/Remodeling Teams
  • Manufacturing
  • Self-employment

 

Program Content

Construction Technology-Year 1

Students in year one complete OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety training, as well as the NCCER Core Curriculum. Safely operating and using tools and equipment is emphasized along with blueprint reading, and measurement. 

Construction Technology-Year 2

Students in year two of the program will add basic electrical and plumbing knowledge plus build a structure using the skills and knowledge gained. 

Enrollment Criteria

  • Minimum sixth-grade reading level
  • Minimum sixth-grade math level
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
     

All programs in the technical center have three class periods available for enrollment. In the event there are more applicants for a section than seats available, students will be asked to choose an alternate period. If the section(s) are still over enrollment capacity, students may be asked to submit an essay and participate in an interview process. 

Final determination will be at the discretion of the instructor and the academy director.
