Sara DeBoer, LCSW, EMDR Consultant
I love being a counselor! I wish I would have had someone to guide me during my undergrad
years to get me here faster, but life had other plans for me first. I received my
bachelor’s degree from Baylor University (English/Literature 2001) and had a fulfilling
career in Human Resources. Ready for a change of pace after moving to Hot Springs,
I pursued my master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little
Rock (2018) and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. During my master’s degree, I
acquired additional education/interest in bridging the gap between therapy and family
law (Bowen Law School) and I have completed advanced training to become an EMDR Consultant
and training facilitator. I started my counseling career at our community mental health
center in 2018, transitioned into private practice in 2021 and I am now proud to serve
NPC students, faculty and staff.
I have advanced experience in the treatment of adults with post-traumatic stress disorder
and regularly treat clients with depression, anxiety, bipolar, trauma, crises, schizophrenia,
personality disorders, long-term mental illness, divorce, and child custody. I have
an outgoing personality and straightforwardness which supports work towards positive
change in sessions with clients. Each day I come to my office and I am excited to
help my clients. Life is hard, like really hard sometimes. Everyone, at some point
in this life, can benefit from counseling. I wish, in my younger years, counseling
had been more easily accessible and encouraged. We live in a time and place where
counseling is becoming normalized and accepted. I would love to help you with whatever
issues you may have; past, present, future or all three combined!
