Robert Feighl grew up in Orange County, California until he was 13. He moved to Hot
Springs in 1979 when his parents retired. His father worked in aerospace in electrical
engineering. His mom was an administrator for several famous pilots that later were
in NASA. She also owned and operated a pre-school and later a resort on Lake Hamilton.
His father exposed him to electronics and computers from an early age of five or six
and had him writing basic programming at eight. So, technology always came easy for
him. Through this experience, he was able to help many architects and engineers begin
using computers and computer networks. He has over forty years of public speaking
experience in venues of 100 of more people to as large as 1500 or more. He has been
a student and teacher of the Bible as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since the age of
eight and currently gives weekly public discourses in both English and Spanish.
He attended GCCC and received his Computer Info Systems degree from NPCC. He has a
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity
from Western Governors University, along with several industry certifications that
include a certification in Ethical Hacking. He worked in the field of mechanical engineering
designing air conditioning and plumbing systems for commercial buildings for over
30 years before teaching at NPC. He still has an engineering office where he designs
projects during the summer. He began teaching at NPC in the fall of 2010, and he typically
teaches PC hardware maintenance, computer networking, networks with Windows Server,
networking with routers and switches, network security, and network design.
He is an FAA licensed private pilot and remote drone pilot and teaches FAA remote
pilot certification prep class for NPC Continuing Education. He hopes to get his remote
license in the future. He also enjoys scuba diving, computer gaming, and any activity
outdoors and on the lake.
