Organizations Partner to Host Safetalk Suicide Training

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) and the Garland County Suicide Prevention Coalition (GCSPC) will host safeTALK suicide training Friday, February 10 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Frederick Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences, room 119. LivingWorks’ safeTALK training is open to anyone over the age of 15 and requires no prior experience. The half day alertness training prepares attendees to become a suicide-alert helper, recognize pleas for help and take action by connecting to life-saving intervention resources.

Dr. Allen, Guest Lecturer for Harding University

Dr. Ferris Allen, Choral Instructor was invited to Harding University last week as a guest lecturer. He spent the day offering five individual voice lessons and one public masterclass.

NPC Touts Progress toward Strategic Goals

National Park College (NPC) Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting Wednesday, January 25. Items for report included academic program changes, a new student internship program, and a strategic plan report. Student of the month, Rachel Garner was recognized.

NPC Announces Van Davis Memorial Scholarship Recipient

The National Park College (NPC) Foundation announced the recipient of the 2017 Van Davis Memorial Scholarship. Rachel Garner was awarded a $1,500 scholarship.

Fall Dean's and President's Lists

The National Park College (NPC) Office of Student Affairs released the Dean’s list and President’s list for the fall 2016 semester. 224 students were named to the Dean’s list and 216 students were named to the President’s list.

NPC Closed For Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) will be closed Monday, January 16 for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The campus will reopen for business and classes as usual on Tuesday, January 17 at 8:00 a.m.

Governor Announces Regional Alliance between NPC, COTO, Henderson State

Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Asa Hutchinson announced the Southern Arkansas Regional Alliance (SARA) Wednesday between National Park College (NPC), College of the Ouachitas (COTO), and Henderson State University. The institutions collaborated to form the alliance in response to the Governor’s Closing the Gap 2020 master plan for higher education. The goal of the regional alliance is to create an innovative, collaborative, 21st century delivery model for higher education and workforce development initiatives in Arkansas that will prioritize student success, degree attainment and workforce development ahead of tradition and turf. The agreement also includes strategies for creating institutional efficiencies through shared resources.

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC), College of the Ouachitas (COTO), and Henderson State University have collaborated to form the Southern Arkansas Regional Alliance (SARA). Governor Asa Hutchinson and Dr. Maria Markham from the Arkansas Division of Higher Education (ADHE) will host a press conference in the Governor’s Conference Room at the Capitol Wednesday, January 4 at 11 a.m. to announce the agreement. In alignment with the Governor’s Closing the Gap 2020 master plan for higher education, the goal of the regional alliance is to create an innovative, collaborative, 21st century delivery model for higher education and workforce development initiatives in Arkansas that will prioritize student success, degree attainment and workforce development ahead of tradition and turf. The agreement also includes strategies for creating institutional efficiencies through shared resources.

NPC Hosts Lean 101 Training for Airtech Supply

National Park College (NPC), Airtech Supply (Airtech), Inc. and Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions Group (AMS) received a “grow-your-own” grant from the Arkansas Department of Career Education’s Office of Skills Development (OSD) to offer a LEAN Transformation series of trainings for employees. The grant is the first of its kind to be awarded since the OSD was created.
