SGA and Garland County Farm Bureau Hosted State and Local Candidate Forum

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association and the Garland County Farm Bureau (GCFB) hosted a State and Local Candidate Forum Tuesday. Dick Antoine, host of the KZNG-AM 1340 morning show, “Talk of the Town” moderated the event. SGA President, Roger Powell welcomed the crowd. GCFB Vice President and legislative chairman, Ralph Pinkerton expressed his appreciation for the partnership with NPC. He said, “We feel that by combining efforts we are able to create a more successful event.”

Aerospace Fabrication and Repair Program Hosts Open House

February 23, 2016

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Aerospace Fabrication and Repair (AFAB) program will host an open house March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Aerospace lab located in the Technical Sciences building. The Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce Ambassador’s Club will be in attendance for a ribbon cutting at 3 p.m. The new for-credit AFAB program was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor which provided funding for equipment, supplies and instruction. The program gives students the skills necessary for a variety of jobs in the growing Aerospace industry, such as sheet metal mechanic, assembly mechanic, brake press operator, composite technician, quality assurance inspector and manufacturing planner. Students graduate with entry level knowledge and skills in the production and repair of metallic and composite aerospace structures, the ability to interpret technical drawings, understand aerospace production systems and the soft skills necessary for employment. Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) will host College Exploration Day Wednesday, February 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the atrium of the Frederick M. Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences. College Exploration Day is an opportunity for students to visit with representatives from colleges and universities all over the region, explore transfer options, and gather information about academic programs, admission requirements and student life.

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association and the Garland County Farm Bureau will host a State and Local Candidate Forum Tuesday, February 23, 2016. All state and local candidates seeking public office have been invited to participate. Dick Antoine, host of the KZNG-AM 1340 morning show, “Talk of the Town” will moderate the event. SGA President, Roger Powell, said, “Part of the mission of the Student Government Association is to promote student interest in citizenship issues. This event will allow our students, as well as the community, an opportunity to meet the candidates and ask the questions that are important to them as voters. Facilitating this event gives us the opportunity to not only serve our student body but the community as a whole.”

NPC Hosts Freedom Film Festival for Human Trafficking Taskforce

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) will host a Freedom Film Festival with the Human Trafficking Taskforce of Garland County on February 9, 2016. Four films are scheduled to play throughout the day beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Computer Resource Auditorium (CR200). NPC Behavioral Intervention Specialist, Susan Millerd, MSW said, “Human trafficking is an important issue facing our community. It is happening right here where we live and putting our youth at risk. We want to do our part to help educate the community about ways we can help combat this horrible crime.”

NPC Welcomes Dr. Jerry Thomas as VP Student Affairs

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Board of Trustees held their annual meeting and regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Items for report included new hires, new degree programs, an update on the Foundation’s year-end report, and an overview of recent and upcoming campus events. During the annual meeting, the Board elected new officers, appointed standing committees and adopted the calendar for the year. Gene Parker was appointed Chairman, Ray Donathan was appointed Vice Chairman and Gail Ezelle was appointed Secretary/Treasurer.
