SGA AND GARLAND COUNTY FARM BUREAU HOSTED STATE AND LOCAL CANDIDATE FORUM

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association and the Garland County Farm Bureau (GCFB) hosted a State and Local Candidate Forum Tuesday. Dick Antoine, host of the KZNG-AM 1340 morning show, “Talk of the Town” moderated the event.

Candidate Forum 1 – Moderator, Dick Antoine with Bob Driggers who operated the timed lighting system.SGA President, Roger Powell welcomed the crowd. GCFB Vice President and legislative chairman, Ralph Pinkerton expressed his appreciation for the partnership with NPC. He said, “We feel that by combining efforts we are able to create a more successful event.”

More than 30 candidates attended the open community forum which was held in the Martin Eisele Auditorium of the Frederick M. Dierks Center at National Park College. The event began with a Meet & Greet for all candidates at 6 p.m. followed by speeches from candidates for County Circuit Clerk, County Treasurer, County Judge, State Representative Districts 18 and 25, United States Congress District 4 and United States Senate. The Garland County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee provided refreshments.

The College will partner with the Garland County Farm Bureau in the fall to host a follow-up debate preceding the November general election. A debate panel will be formed that consists of students, faculty and community members. SGA students will survey the campus and community to gather feedback and develop questions for candidates.
