Pharmacy Tech Program Graduates 19

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Pharmacy Technician Program will host a recognition ceremony July 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Southside Student Center. Nineteen students began the program March 29 and will be recognized for completion of their 80-hour classroom training for pharmacy technician. Graduates include, Collene Atchley, Lauren Black, Kevin Bunch, Jean Carpenter, Jennifer Diaz, Richard Dunlap, Brandie Elledge, Katelyn Hunter, Jane Kowalkowski, Amanda Long, Amber Merritt, Briana Sport, Lorra Stinson, Melissa Stone, Dustin Tart, Jayme Vaughn, Melanie Wilder, Patricia Wright, and Jonathan Wykoff.

Welding Students Donate Bench to VA Clinic

Hot Springs, Arkansas – Students in the National Park College (NPC) Welding program designed and fabricated an iron bench that they plan to donate to the Central Arkansas Veteran’s Health Care System’s (CAVHS) Hot Springs Community Based Outpatient Clinic. A dedication ceremony will take place at 177 Sawtooth Oak Street, Hot Springs, AR 71901, Tuesday, May 10 at 2 p.m. Student artists, Casey White and Chris Smith designed and fabricated the bench as part of their required service-learning project this semester in their Welding Layout and Fabrication course. The students used gas metal arc welding (GMAW) to complete the project, which required more than 100 hours of labor.

NPC Announces Spring 2016 Commencement

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) will host spring 2016 Commencement for students who have successfully completed the requirements for graduation Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs. Approximately 400 students have applied for graduation. The Hot Springs Concert Band will perform the processional, “Pomp and Circumstance” and the National Anthem. The Hot Springs High School Navy Junior ROTC Color Guard will present the presentation of colors. Rev. Dr. Michael L. Maddox, Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs will give the invocation.

NPC Singers Host Spring Concert

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Singers and Soundwaves will perform their final concert of the year Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Students will perform a concert entitled, A Fond Benediction, based on the Commissioned Choral arrangement of The Lord Bless You and Keep You by Brandon Nelson. Student singers collected funds and commissioned Mr. Nelson to write an arrangement based on the Luftkin version of The Lord Bless You and Keep You. The students honored Mrs. Edds with the work while preparing to sing in New Orleans, Louisiana in February.

SPSF Hosts Style Show for Scholarships

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The Single Parent Scholarship Fund (SPSF) of Garland County will host the seventh Annual Style Show for Scholarships Luncheon April 14 at 11:30 a.m. at The Hills at Belvedere. style show modelsThe style show will include collections from Chantilly, Pink Avenue, Accessory Gallery, Grow, and Christi’s Boutique. Tickets are $30 per person and includes lunch courtesy of Special Touch Catering. The event will feature stories from two NPC students impacted by this scholarship and includes a silent auction, door prizes, and a cash wine bar. Proceeds will benefit the SPSC of Garland County. The SPSF of Garland County provides scholarships to men and women of Garland County who demonstrate financial need, are single parents and enrolled in a post-secondary educational course of study leading to a diploma, certificate, or degree. SPSF of Garland County scholarships encourage students’ success by providing financial assistance that can be used for transportation, child care, medical expenses, school supplies, books and fees, and housing.

SGA Hosts Spring Car Show for Scholarships

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association (SGA) will host a Spring Car Show April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Fisher Campus Center at 101 College Drive. This is the second annual car show event the SGA has hosted. Proceeds from the car show will benefit the SGA scholarship fund at National Park College.

Innovative Technologies Center Hosts Code.Connect.Innovate Conference

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Innovative Technologies Center will host the Code.Connect.Innovate (CCI) computer science and information technology conference April 7-8 in the Frederick M. Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences. Speakers from two and four-year institutions as well as industry will address a variety of subjects from innovative research and instruction to cyber security and cloud services. Industry partners will be present to review and explain the latest information technology products and services. Event sponsors include, Juniper Networks, Cisco Systems and NWN corporation. William Polk, Community and Corporate Training Project Coordinator said, “The CCI conference is an opportunity for college educators and staff to connect with Arkansas’ high-tech industries, share ideas, foster best practices and stimulate innovation.”

NPC Film Group Begins Production

March 8, 2016

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Film Group began production Saturday for their upcoming film The Photographer . Principal photography will begin this Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Liberal Arts building and will include a number of haute couture gowns on loan for the day from Chuck Dodson, who is also playing Bernard Goldman, the fashion agent in the film. The film is about a modern photographer, Johnathan Jenkins played by Steve Helms, who buys an ancient camera that seems to have a presence of its own, pictured left. Other cast members include Joe, his assistant, played by Rahem White, Bernard Goldman, his agent, Anna Karinova, Vogue model, played by Brandi Searcy, Jacob Webb, antique dealer, played by Mason Tabor, and a variety of background actors and day players.
