Complete the Online Admissions Application.
Visit the FAFSA website to apply for financial aid at studentaid.gov. You will be prompted to create a FSA ID or use your existing FSA ID to complete the Student Aid online. If you are a dependent student, a parent needs a FSA ID too. (You can apply for your FSA ID on the FAFSA website during the FAFSA process).
Make sure to use the IRS Linking Tool and match address exactly to the one used on your tax return. (This is also required for parents and dependent students).
Once enrolled please monitor your OASIS account for information that is needed to complete your file. It will be listed in the "To Do List" area. To locate the “To Do List” click on self service > student center> select “to do list” on the right.
Log in to OASIS by using the first initial of your first name and your full last name (example: jsmith). Your password will be the last four digits of your social security number and your birth date (month and day only) Example: 12340107. For log in problems, email techsupport@np.edu or call 760-4171 and ask for the password to be reset.
Students are sometimes selected for verification of your income. If you have been selected for verification, you will need to fill out the independent or dependent verification form. Select the appropriate verification form to complete and return it to Financial Aid. If you are unable to link your taxes from the IRS in the FAFSA application you and your parent will need a copy of your federal tax transcript. To get a copy, please contact the IRS at 1-800-TAX-1040 or go to www.irs.gov. If required, it will be listed on your "To Do List" in Oasis.
Submit the required forms and documentation by one of the following methods:
Once all forms are submitted and processed, your financial aid such as PELL and loans will be awarded in OASIS. You will need to go to Accept/Decline awards.
In order to receive student loans, you will be required to accept your loan offers (Note: Pell Grants are automatically accepted). On the right of your OASIS screen, click on the NavBar symbol > select Navigator > click on Self-Service > Student Center > Accept/Decline awards > Year. You can then accept or decline the loan amounts.
In order for your loans to process, new students must complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note by visiting studentaid.gov. Returning students will not be required to redo their Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling (it is good for 10 years). All students accepting loans should watch their "To Do List" for further instructions.
When books go on sale for the semester, if you have PELL or accepted loans on your Oasis account, then you can charge your books online or will be able to charge them in the campus bookstore in person by presenting identification.
