National Park College (NPC) named Dr. Alexandra Barnard as the 2024 Outstanding Faculty Member during the annual Employee Recognition Day celebration this month. Recipients of this award are nominated and selected by their peers.
National Park College (NPC) hosted the 2022 commencement ceremony Saturday at Bank OZK Arena. The College conferred 788 degrees and certificates to 505 graduates this year. This is the second highest number of degrees and certificates conferred in the past 15 years.
National Park College (NPC) hosted a Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Day Thursday. More than $76,000 in scholarships were awarded to nursing and health sciences students. A total of 97 scholarships and awards were presented to students from community organizations and private donors, many of whom are alumni of NPC programs.
NPC’s Alpha Beta Psi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) tapped students for invitation into the honors society last week. More than 250 students were invited to join the organization. PTK is the international honor society of two-year colleges. A student must have completed 12 or more semester hours of coursework at NPC and must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be invited for membership. In order to remain a member in good standing, a student must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher. PTK allows students to develop skills in leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service. Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Office of Student Affairs released the Dean’s List and President’s list for the Summer 2016 semester. Thirty-eight students were named to the Dean’s List and twenty-nine students were named to the President’s List. Students on the Dean’s List must maintain a minimum of a 3.25 semester GPA and a 3.25 cumulative GPA. Students on the President’s List must maintain a minimum of a 3.6 semester GPA and a 3.6 cumulative GPA.
Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association hosted the second annual Final Exam Slam: Staff versus Students basketball game April 29. 3 Point Contest StudentLast year the students beat the faculty and staff 75-30 in a grueling 40-minute battle. This year the faculty and staff team won 53-46 with help from student tutor, Matt Lim and student Pierre Adair. Division Chair, Chris Coble coached the faculty and staff team and SGA President, Roger Powell coached the student team. Intramurals coordinator, Bob Kissire and Dean of Enrollment Services, Jason Hudnell officiated.
Floor to ceiling equations! That was the dream of Math and Science division instructors. Brad Hopper and his team made the idea a reality by painting a wall in LS116 with epoxy paint and turning the wall into a giant white board.
Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) nursing student, Dulce Olivia Diaz was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the Oaklawn Foundation for the spring semester. Diaz is 22 years old and the oldest of five children. She immigrated to the United States with her single mother as a small child. She is proud to be a first generation college student. Though her mother only completed a sixth grade education, she motivated Diaz to achieve her college degree. It is important to her that she set an example for her younger siblings and honor the sacrifices her mother made so she could pursue her dreams. Diaz has worked extremely hard to be successful in school while maintaining a full-time job to help with expenses. Once she began nursing school, the workload was too much and she had to reduce her work to part-time.
Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Health Sciences Division received a GE MAC-5000 from Saline Memorial Hospital last month. If purchased new, the GE MAC-5000 echocardiogram (ECG or EKG) equipment costs approximately $15,000. ECG equipment is used to measure electrical activity in the heart. The Health Sciences Division plans to use the equipment for teaching proper technique in obtaining ECGs as well as identifying ECG patterns that require medical interventions.
