NPC, GC Farm Bureau Host State and Local Candidate Debate

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association and the Garland County Farm Bureau (GCFB) hosted a State and Local Candidate Debate Tuesday. All state and local candidates seeking public office were invited to participate. Dick Antoine, host of the KZNG-AM 1340 morning show, “Talk of the Town” moderated the event. The debate panel included Dr. Charles Argo, Social Sciences Division Chair, Michelle Godwin, SGA President, Tommy Sorrells, GCFB President, and Corey Alderdice, Director of the Arkansas School for Math, Science, and the Arts.

Mascot, Top Three Finalist

NPC Reveals Three Mascot Finalists

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) announced the three finalists for mascot this week in conjunction with Spirit Week activities. The final three mascot concepts were selected from the top 10 by members of the Student Government Association and administration. Graphic artist, Cari Elliott prepared concept boards for the audience using references from other school mascots. She explained how each idea could be represented graphically.

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Board of Trustees held their regular monthly meeting Wednesday, August 24. Items for report included updates on student life events, student government association projects, and workforce training. The Board welcomed new hires Donald Caudill, Higher Ed Program Manager; Kathy Edwards, Institutional Services Assistant; Kurtis Markish, Purchasing Specialist; Bruce Hankins, Controller; Ferris Allen, Music Instructor; Dr. Judith Bride, Chemistry Instructor; Kevin Day, High School Criminal Justice Instructor; Timothy Jackson, EMT Clinical Director; Ashley Simmons, Practical Nursing Instructor; Lana Taliaferro, Art Instructor; and Dr. Christopher Thrasher, History Instructor.

SGA Visits State Capitol

April 29, 2016

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association (SGA) visited the state capitol this week. Students toured the capitol complex, observed legislative committee meetings and House and Senate sessions. The day included a visit with Governor Asa Hutchinson. SGA President, Roger Powell presented the Governor with a resolution on behalf of the student body thanking him for his support of higher education. The resolution was also presented to Senator Bill Sample, Senator Alan Clark, Representative John Vines, Representative Bruce Cozart, and Dr. Brett Powell, Director of the Arkansas Division of Higher Education.

NPTC Celebrates Student Success

Hot Springs, Arkansas – The National Park Technology Center (NPTC) held its annual awards program Thursday, April 21, in the Eisele Auditorium of the Frederick M. Dierks Center for Nursing and Health Sciences. The auditorium was standing room only as family, friends, local school officials and NPTC faculty and staff watched more than 100 students being recognized for their efforts and achievements. Students from Lake Hamilton, Lakeside, Cutter-Morning Star, Jessieville, Hot Springs, Fountain Lake, Mountain Pine, and Caddo Hills High Schools received awards. Students received recognition for the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), Student Government Association (SGA) Campus and Community Service Award, Technical Excellence, CHAMPION/Work Ethic and Outstanding Student.

SGA Hosts Spring Car Show for Scholarships

Hot Springs, Arkansas – National Park College (NPC) Student Government Association (SGA) will host a Spring Car Show April 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Fisher Campus Center at 101 College Drive. This is the second annual car show event the SGA has hosted. Proceeds from the car show will benefit the SGA scholarship fund at National Park College.
