The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk baseball team swept the Division II Region
II Athlete of the Week honors with freshman infielder Jack Hackney (DeWitt) taking
home Player of the Week and freshman pitcher Bradley Bearden (Ashdown) earning Pitcher
of the Week.
For the week of Feb. 24 through March 1st, Hackney batted .875 with two doubles,
three walks, three stolen bases and one RBI. In two appearances, Bearden struck out
13 batters, earning a win and a save while allowing just two hits and one walk.
“We are extremely proud of these two young men,” NPC Athletic Director Jason Hudnell
said. “This award is another testament to the quality program that is being built
by Coach Hargrove and Coach Thompson. The future is very bright for Nighthawks baseball.”
Nighthawks baseball plays host to Central Baptist College Monday, Mar. 9 for a double
header beginning at 12 p.m.
