NPC returns to normal operations on Friday, February 21. All classes, activities and services will resume as usual. 

We understand that the weather may have caused some inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please ensure that you take extra precautions when traveling to and around campus as conditions may still be slippery in some areas.

The NPC campus will reopen Thursday, February 20. Instruction will remain remote for students and faculty. Staff and campus visitors are encouraged to use their best judgment regarding travel to campus.  

The NPC Career Academy will remain closed Thursday. 

Please exercise caution while on campus, as some areas may still be slick. Our maintenance crews are working diligently to clear the campus as quickly as possible. 

Any changes to this plan will be communicated promptly via the campus emergency alert system. Verify your contact information and alert notification settings.

Due to adverse weather conditions, National Park College will continue remote operations on Wednesday, February 19. 

What this means:

  • Campus offices will be available remotely by phone and email.  
  • Campus dining hours on February 19 will be 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. 
  • Athletic events for this week have been postponed or canceled. Updates will be posted to Nighthawk Athletics social media channels and the athletics events calendar.

NPC Shifting to Remote Operations Due to Winter Weather

Due to anticipated inclement weather and to prioritize the safety of our campus community, National Park College will transition to remote operations at 12 p.m. Tuesday, February 18.   

What this means: 

  • Campus offices will be available remotely by phone and email but will close to in-person traffic.   
  • Campus dining will remain open normal hours Tuesday, February 18.  
  • Athletic events for this week have been postponed or canceled. Updates will be posted to Nighthawk Athletics social media channels and the athletics events calendar.

Update:

National Park College has returned to normal operations.

This afternoon, NPC was made aware of a social media post threatening local schools.  The campus security and key staff were placed on alert. We have received word from local law enforcement that there does not appear to be any threat to our campus. While there is no immediate danger, please stay alert and take precautions:

  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Report suspicious activity to campus security at 501-538-5507.
  • Follow official updates from campus alerts.

National Park College has been informed of a potential safety concern to Garland County schools. While there is no immediate danger, please stay alert and take precautions:

  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Report suspicious activity to campus security at 501-538-5507.
  • Follow official updates from campus alerts.

NPC will resume normal operating hours Tuesday, January 14. Please note, campus sidewalks and parking lots may still have icy patches. Use caution when walking around campus.

Sunday, 12 January 2025 at 3:30 p.m.

Campus sidewalks and parking lots remain icy. Students will continue remote operations Monday, January 13. Where possible, classes will be conducted virtually. Please check for communication from your instructors via D2L for specific course information. Employees will report to campus if possible. Communicate with your supervisor regarding special circumstances. 

  • Campus offices will remain closed to in-person traffic. Students with advising appointments will meet by phone with their advisor (advisor will call). Staff will be available via email. 
  • Campus dining services will be open for limited hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • All events and activities scheduled for January 13 are canceled or postponed.
  • Enrollment for spring semester will be extended through Wednesday, January 15. You may enroll online
  • If you are currently enrolled in spring classes and your balance due exceeds your eligible financial aid, you will be dropped for non-payment Tuesday, January 14 at noon. Please set up a payment plan or pay in full before noon Tuesday to stay in classes. Payment plan information can be found at www.MyCollegePaymentPlan.com/npc. Scroll to “Simple Steps to Enroll Payment Plans and Refunds” or email studentaccounts@np.edu or call 501-760-4125 for questions about your balance. 

Wednesday, 8 January 2025 at 12:30 p.m.

Due to anticipated inclement weather and to prioritize the safety of our campus community, National Park College will transition to remote operations Thursday, January 9 and Friday, January 10.

What this means:

  • Campus offices will remain closed to in-person traffic. Students with advising appointments will meet by phone with their advisor (advisor will call). Staff will be available via email. 
  • Campus dining will remain open for campus residents normal hours Thursday, January 9, and 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, January 10-11.
  • All events and activities scheduled for January 9-10 are canceled or postponed. The men's basketball game scheduled against Arkansas State University Newport will be rescheduled. Updates will be posted to Nighthawk Athletics social media channels and the athletics events calendar.
  • Enrollment for spring semester will be extended through Wednesday, January 15. You may enroll online.
  • If you are currently enrolled in spring classes and your balance due exceeds your eligible financial aid, you will be dropped for non-payment Tuesday, January 14 at noon. Use caution when walking on campus. Conditions vary across the region. Use your best judgment to determine if travel is safe in your area. 

Due to the continuing impact of inclement weather, the physical campus will remain closed Friday, January 19. Campus roadways and sidewalks remain dangerous due to refreezing moisture and are unable to be cleared safely at this time. Where possible, classes will be conducted virtually. Please check for communication from your instructors via D2L for specific course information. Employees will report remotely. Campus dining services will be open for limited hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Due to the continuing impact of inclement weather, the physical campus will remain closed Thursday, January 18. Campus roadways and sidewalks remain ice packed and are unable to be cleared safely at this time. Where possible, classes will be conducted virtually. Please check for communication from your instructors via D2L for specific course information. Employees will report remotely. Campus dining services will be open for limited hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
