NPTC Students Attend HOSA International Leadership Conference

Hot Springs, Arkansas – Eight National Park Technology Center (NPTC) Health Science Technology Education (HSTE) students attended the 39th Annual Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, June 22-26.

Students qualified for the conference by competing and winning their event at the state conference in March. Approximately 10,500 students attended the national conference. HOSA affiliations are in all 50 states plus Puerto Rico, Mexico, American Samoa, Canada and the District of Columbia. Students were accompanied by Susan Kelly and HOSA advisor/HSTE instructor, Relda Steelman.

Steelman said, “While they didn’t receive any top three placements this year, all of the students worked extremely hard and represented NPTC, their local schools and the state of Arkansas very well.” Students enjoyed the experience. “I’m going to start preparing now so that I can go back next year,” said Jacob Stoker, Lake Hamilton High School student. Cecilia Lopez from Hot Springs High School said, “This was so much fun, an awesome experience. I can’t wait until next year.”
