Planning Your Transfer

STEP 1: Find out if there is a transfer degree that fits your academic goal.

STEP 2: Consult with faculty and academic advisors to further explore or narrow your list of potential transfer programs and universities.

STEP 3: Visit transfer resources and university websites for the following information:

  • Admission requirements and criteria
  • Application information and deadlines
  • Cost of tuition and housing
  • Type of degree awarded and available programs of study (majors)
  • Transfer scholarship information
  • Opportunities to participate in student life and activities
  • Campus visits and transfer student tour information

Developing Your Transfer Plan

Once you have selected your transfer degree program and university:

STEP 1: Change your NPC intended degree plan, if necessary, to reflect your selected transfer degree program.

STEP 2: Create a transfer plan that includes:

  • Admission requirements
  • Application deadline
  • Cost of attendance
  • Number of courses that will transfer
  • Number of transferred courses that can be applied to your degree
  • Estimated time it will take to complete the degree
  • Opportunities for financial assistance and scholarships

STEP 3: Meet with the transfer coordinator to stay on course for transfer.

STEP 4: Schedule an appointment for one-on-one transfer planning if the university you are interested in sends representatives to NPC.

Applying To Your Institution

Once you have completed your transfer plan:

STEP 1: Contact the institution's Office of Admissions and inquire about the application process and deadlines.

STEP 2: Plan to do the following:

  • Complete an application for admission
  • Submit official NPC transcripts
  • Meet with an academic advisor
  • Visit the campus and attend an orientation session prior to the beginning of your first semester
  • Update your financial aid information with your new institution
