I completed my undergraduate and graduate degree from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. My graduate work in Nepal was mainly focused on isolating natural products from locally available medicinal plants. With the intent of getting higher education, I joined New Mexico State University (NMSU), Las Cruces where I completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry.

Dr. Martin is a native of Indiana (a big Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers fan), but moved to Poughkeepsie, Arkansas (30 miles north of Batesville, AR) with his parents and two brothers immediately after high school.

Dr. Gwendolyn Carter

After Pioneering her way through the lakes and fields of Iowa, Dr. Gwendolyn Carter earned her B.A. in General Science: Biology from Grinnell College. She then returned to the warmth of the South and the comfort of her native Little Rock to do research at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Like an Exodus plague, she worked from flies and frogs to full humans, culminating in a Ph.D. in Neurobiology. Her work during her postdoctoral fellowship and short teaching stint at Hendrix College has led to a growing list of publications and partnerships. She is excited about her transition to full-time teaching.
Dr. Rebekah Robinette

Dr. Rebekah Robinette is one of many great instructors on the NPC campus that is an alumnus of the college. Dr. Robinette became a student on our campus in 1996 when it was known as Garland County Community College. During her student years on campus she was very involved in the college’s Alpha Beta Psi chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, student-led tutoring, and socializing with fellow students. Her experiences with faculty and the skills gained through the MLT program here at NPC led Dr. Robinette to further her education and work experience in North Carolina. While in attendance at High Point University she worked in a Biotechnology company full-time. She was able to obtain such great employment solely because of the education and skills she obtained at NPC. Ultimately, Dr. Robinette went on to attend a Doctoral program in Biomedical Science at the University Of Florida College Of Medicine where she performed novel and ground-breaking fundamental medical research in Microbiology and Immunology. Her research culminated not only in a wealth of expertise in her subject matter but also in the publication of three primary authorship and five co-authorship articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr. Robinette shares her experience and expertise with the students at NPC through her courses in Microbiology and Anatomy and Physiology.
Brian L. Theroux

Brian Theroux, lead mathematics instructor for Learning Acceleration, has over 15 years of experience teaching in various capacities at four different institutions of higher learning and has been involved in several different developmental math programs. He has also been directly involved in math redesign at two different institutions. A member of the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges, Theroux has a passion for developmental education and cherishes the role he plays in the future of his students.
Darlene Gentles

Darlene Gentles started her teaching career as a Graduate Assistant at HSU after graduating from Garland County Community College and Henderson State University with degrees in Biology and General Science. After grad school she began teaching Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry and Microbiology labs and worked as the lab manager at National Park Community College. As the college grew, she began teaching Biology, Botany and Zoology lectures too. Over two decades later, Mrs. Gentles has moved into the role of Division Chair and still enjoys teaching immensely. The challenge of introducing the new Associate of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree has been rewarding, and working with students is her favorite part of the job!
