The high school Automotive Service Technology program equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to be competitive in today's automotive workforce. The course is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and introduces you to the fundamentals of repair, tune-up, and maintenance of today's automobiles.
Upon completion of the two year program, you will have the opportunity to receive a Certificate of Completion in Automotive Service Technology.
Upon receiving your Certificate of Completion, you may continue your education at NPC through the technical and professional division.
In year one, you will be trained in routine service practices and general vehicle maintenance. You will learn to identify and repair brakes, both drum and disc and hydraulic systems. You will also be trained to diagnose and repair automobile engines.
In year two, you will be introduced to basic electrical systems and diagnostics. You are taught to diagnose and repair suspension and steering systems. You will also be trained in automotive air conditioning and heating systems.
All programs in the technical center have three class periods available for enrollment. In the event there are more applicants for a section than seats available, you will be asked to choose an alternate period. If the section(s) are still over enrollment capacity, the following additional criteria will be used to determine acceptance into the program:
