Student Funds Quarterly Reporting

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: This statement acknowledges that National Park College has signed and returned the Recipient’s Funding Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students  and that the institution has used, or intends to use the funds to provide the mandated amount of the emergency financial aid grants to students.

The total amount of funds that the institution has received from ED:

  • Student - $6,554,007
  • Institutional - $9,137,031
  • HEERF-SIP - $680,395
  • Supplemental (MSI) - $1,142,220
  • Total - $17,513,653

The total amount of funds that the institution has received under the HEERF student portion equals:

  • HEERF I (CARES) - $1,142,754
  • HEERF II (CRRSAA) - $1,142,754
  • HEERF III (ARP) - $4,268,499
  • Total Student before Supplemental - $6,554,007
  • Supplemental for MSI- $1,142,220
  • Total Student Relief Grants Student Portion: $7,696,227

The total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 494 of Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and therefore eligible to receive an emergency financial aid grant at the time of the declaration of the national emergency March 13, 2020,was estimated at approximately 1500 students. As the national emergency continues more students have become eligible and the number has increased over time to over 3,000 students.

Methods

Method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive HEERF grants and how much they would receive:

HEERF I

Spring 2020: Title IV eligible students who certified they had covid related expenses were given block grants of $400.

Summer 2020: Returning summer students who had already certified in spring term and newly enrolled summer students who certified they had covid related expenses got a block grant of $400.

Meal Plan Balances that were unused were refunded to students.

Fall 2020: New certification forms were completed by Title IV eligible, enrolled students. Two $400 block grants were given to this group for August and September.

Spring 2021: Remaining HEERF I were disbursed to all students who reported to the Health and Safety Program Manager of being quarantined or isolated due to COVID-19. After these funds were diminished our NPC Foundation paid students this stipend for the rest of the spring term.

HEERF II

Spring 2021: Block grants were paid to students based on level of enrollment and additional funding based on EFC.

Enrollment Criteria for Amount of Disbursements:

  • 1-3 hours     $200
  • 4-6 hours     $300
  • 7-9 hours     $400
  • 10-12 hours $500
  • 13+ hours    $600

Additional Funding Based on EFC on FAFSA:

  • Add $100 for anyone with EFC 0-2700 on FAFSA
  • Add $50 for anyone with EFC 2701-5711
  • Add $0 for anyone with EFC over 5711

US Citizenship:

DACA students still waiting on feedback from USDE, so was conservative and removed anyone who self- identified as non-US Citizen and wasn’t an eligible non-citizen for FAFSA purposes.

HEERF II/III

Fall 2021:

  • Meal plan balances that were unused were refunded to students again.
  • Incentives were paid to students who elected triple occupancy in the dorms.
  • Emergency relief funds were given to students who applied for additional assistance.
  • Quarantined and isolated students were paid a stipend to offset missed earnings due to covid.
  • Block grants of $500 each were given to all currently enrolled students in September and October.
  • Cash incentives of $100 were offered to students who got vaccinated or showed proof of vaccination to the Health and Safety Officer.

Fall 2022:

  • Block grants of $763 were paid to students enrolled in 3 or more hours who were degree seeking. 

HEERF III

Spring 2022:

  • Quarantined and isolated students were paid a stipend until February.
  • Block grants were paid to students enrolled in 3 or more hours who were degree seeking.

The following information was shared with students:

Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students concerning the emergency financial aid grants were disseminated to students via messages shared on the learning management system (D2L), email, and social media.
