NPC Minutes of the SGA Meeting

The National Park College Student Government Association met Thursday, January 23, 2025 beginning at 1:01 p.m. SGA members present were president Jayden Story, treasurer Cristian Cisneros, at-large reps Genesis Godoys, Jennifer Cruz and Nichole Ellis, freshman rep David Cooks, Josh Hill and Keira Ray and advisors Sheri Bailey and Victoria Staton.

I: Approval of minutes

• October 23, 2024: Approved 

II: Reports

• Officers Reports:
  • Treasure Report: There is $6827.43 left in the budget, which is a lot of money left We will need to do something with this money for the student population.
  • President Report: Student Organization Showcase had good representation at the SGA table, but the numbers were light due to it being spring semester. Two or three people used the sign-up sheets.
  • Historian Report: Send Nia event
• Standing Committee Reports: 
  • Interclub Committee: Victoria needs to look at the printing options for other clubs.
  • Constitution and By-Laws Committee: The question was proposed if students, who are fully online except those living in the dorms or working on campus, should not hold an officer position in SGA. Another question is should freshman representatives have voting There is, also, not a section in the Constitution about GroupMe voting. There is a lot of outdated information with the Constitution as of now, and the hope is to revise the Constitution by the end of this semester.
  • Events Committee: Cristian will talk to Itzel about scheduling another meeting and buying the treats for the next $150 has been set aside for the Valentine’s Day Cookie Event.
• Ad Hoc Committee Reports
  • Safety and Security Committee: Survey on campus safety was sent Monday the 27 at 8:30 a.m. is the next, scheduled meeting.

• ACC Conference 
  • Getting numbers of who all can
• Calendar of Upcoming Events:
  • Valentine's Day Cookie Decorating 
    • Jayden will reach out to Brianna about making a flyer.
    • Victoria is going to send a poll for who can attend for specific time slots.
    • Need to pick a movie for this event to be played in the background of the event.
  • ACC Conference
  • Spirit Week 

    • Tuesday - Movie night hosted by Student Life

    • Wednesday - Need to decide on an event.
    • Thursday - Spring Fling hosted by Student Life but SGA will have a table.
  • Spring Service Day: 
    • Discussion if we still want a spring service day.

IV: Items for Action - New Business

• Creative Council
  • Funding request ($50-$70) for their event was

  • SGA has been given a huge discount to It is a leadership February 20 conference here on campus. To reserve the eight seats, it will cost $200 instead of $600. Five are interested so far.
  • Funding for this event was Motion passed by Nicole and seconded by Cristian.
• Game Room
  
  • Estimates and considerations for renovating the game room in the
• Petting Zoo
  • The thought is hiring a petting zoo instead of bringing animals from an animal shelter.

V: Announcements

• Volunteers needed for the warming shelter for the homeless in Information sent out in the GroupMe.
• Next meeting is scheduled for February 6^th at 1:00 PM. Motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 1:57 p.m.
