NPC Mintues of the SGA Meeting

The National Park College Student Governement Association met Monday, September 23, 2024 beginning at 1:45 p.m. SGA members present were president Jayden Story, vice president Itzel Trinidad, secretary Alex Essary, treasurer Cristian Cisneros, advisors Sheri Bailey, Caysie Martin and Victoria Staton.

I: Approval of minutes

  • To be sent via email for approval.

II: Reports

  • Officers Reports: none
  • Standing Committee Reports - none
  • Ad Hoc Committee Reports - none

III: Items for Action - Unfinished Business

  • No actions

IV: Items for Action - New Business

  • Elections
    • We have 21 applications and the list of applicants were handed out to each officer and advisor.
    • Applications are due September 6 and can be found at np.edu/SGA.
  • Standing Committees
    • Interclub Committee: Wednesday, September 18 at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. is the first meeting for the Interclub. This is where the members and advisors will go over their roster and get started with the funding forms.
    • Constitution and By-Laws Committee: The first meeting date for this club will be Wednesday, September 4 at 1 p.m. in the SGA conference room. Jayden, Sherri, and Victoria are to attend.
    • Events Committee: The first meeting date for the Events Committee will be Wednesday, September 18 at 12 p.m., also, in the SGA conference
    • Student Engagement Committee: Jayden tabled this to a later date since this club does not need to be activated right now.
  • Calendar of Upcoming Events:
    • Pop in with the President: Sherri emailed Sarah to see if we could extend the time of this Therefore, this event is set for September 23 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Commons. Discussion was had about if we need cake or balloons to celebrate his birthday.
    • Service Day: The fall service day is scheduled for Saturday, October 12 to improve the Campus grounds, etc. Sheri is to email David Caldwell in maintenance to see if students can help with this on Service Day. Sheri is also to eamil Amy in the bookstore about inventory of shirts for Service Day. 
    • Fall Festival: It was discussed the haunted house would be too expensive for the Fall Festival. Therefore, a replacement is needed. There was talk of doing a fall version of the Great Game, man hunt at dark, or a DIY haunted house, etc. Deciding on which, option will be decided on at a later date.
    • September Food Pantry Challenge: Food drive boxes will be a way to help the Helping Hawks until they gan more membership in the club. This challenge will last all of September.
  • Budget:
    • Everything but the water bottles from last year will be reimbursed back into our budget.
  • Changing Disbursements:
    • Sheri is going to email Amy Watson about our SGA scholarships.

V: Business From the floor

  • Sno cone social is the next event. It will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, September, 4 at the Quad. Cristian, Jayden, Victoria, and Sheri will be there. We already have everything for the event except the paper cones.

VI: Announcements

  • Everyone needs to be taking pictures for the events until we get that position filled.

Motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 2:45 p.m.
