NPC Minutes of the SGA Meeting

The National Park College Student Government Association met Wednesday, July 17, 2024 beginning at 7:49 p.m. at the Highlife Ridge in Glenwood, AR. SGA members present were president Jayden Story, vice president Itzel Trinidad, secretary Alex Essary, treasurer Cristian Cisneros and advisors Sheri Bailey, Caysie Martin and Victoria Staton.

IV: Items for Action - New Business

  • Elections
    • The motion by Jayden Story was adopted by unanimous vote for Cristian Cisneros to create an election flyer with a QR code to post at Orientation.
    • A motion was adopted by unanimous vote for applications to be due by September 6 and to hold voting from September 11-13.
    • Elections are to fill the following offices: one Public Relations Officer, one Historian, four At-Large Representatives, and five Freshman Representatives.
  • Formation of Standing Committees
    • Interclub Committee: A motion by Jayden Story was adopted by unanimous vote to table the discussion for establishing Interclub committee members.
    • Constitution and By-Laws Committee: A motion by Itzel Trinidad was adopted by unanimous vote for Jayden Story to become chairperson of Constitution and By-laws The first meeting has not been set.
    • Events Committee: A motion by Alex Essary was adopted by unanimous vote for Itzel Trinidad and Cristian Cisneros to co-chair the Events Committee.

  • Initiatives:
    • During Orientation on 08/20, SGA members agreed to meet students afterward to conduct a “Walk Your Schedule” for incoming A motion was unanimously passed for Jayden Story to make a flyer/posterboard for the event. Details about the time and location are pending.
    • Members planned a Sno-Cone Social for 09/04 to further engage with students and provide opportunities to follow up with incoming freshman.
    • A motion by Cristian Cisneros was unanimously approved to table discussions about other SGA initiatives until more members are present.
    • A motion was made and unanimously approved to send the proposed schedule to VP Darla Thurber.

  • No new business was discussed.

VI: Announcements

  • SGA members checked their names on the rosters and had a discussion about making sure those needed are on SharePoint. Advisors encouraged members to bring binders to meetings.
