NPC Minutes of the SGA Meeting

The National Park College Student Government Association met Wednesday, February 21, 2024 beginning at 8:04 a.m. SGA members present were president Victoria Dalton, vice president Ashley Mitchell, secretary Itzel Trinidad, public relations officer Abigail Curphey, historian Madellen Harkay, at-large reps Cristian Cisneros and Rebecca Funderburk, freshman rep Alex Essary, Gilbert Behr, Kristina Hill and Trace Buttrum and advisors Sheri Bailey and Caysie Martin.

I: Approval of minutes

• Approved minutes February 7, 2024

II: Reports

• Officers Reports:

  • Treasure Report: No report.

  • President Report: President Victoria Dalton shared about the success of the Valentine’s Day Party. She reported that 51 people showed up, and she said they seemed to enjoy it.
  • Standing Committee Reports: 

    • Interclub Committee: No report.

    • Constitution and By-Laws Committee: No report.

    • Events Committee: Members have been discussing spirit week events on GroupMe.

  • Ad Hoc Committee Reports -
    • Student Engagement Committee: No report.
    • Investigation for Peer Mentoring Committee - Caysie talked to Jessie Ellis about the program and she is interested in helping with that initiative.

III: Items for Action - Unfinished Business

• Members are still working on getting the SGA pictures finished and put up in the Student Organization Room.
• Abby is almost finished with the Service Day flyers; she will finish working on them. Release forms are available on the website. Student Life will work on box lunches and T-shirts.
• Jayden researched various DJ’s and provided us the information about them. Members need to decide on who to hire. Members agreed on Celebration Events. Sherri Phillips will call Celebration Events to ask if they are available on April 5th. Members also discussed getting a 360 booth for the dance. Victoria will do more research about it and send the information to GroupMe.
• New dates for Spirit Week have been confirmed for April 2-5.

IV: Items for Action - New Business

• Victoria explained to members about the ACC Student Leadership Academy happening on April 22-23. Members will talk to Caysie if they are interested in attending the event.
• We decided that SGA will not have a table at the Resource Fair during Spring Break.
• Eclipse Day is still going to be discussed and moved to unfinished business.
