NPC Minutes of the SGA Meeting
The National Park College Student Government Association met Wednesday, February 7, 2024 beginning at 8:05 a.m. SGA members present were president Victoria Dalton, vice president Ashley Mitchell, secretary Itzel Trinidad, treasurer Jayden Story, public relations officer Abigail Curphey, historian Madellen Harkay, at-large reps Cristian Cisneros and Matelyn Adaway, freshman rep Gilbert Behr and advisors Sheri Bailey and Caysie Martin.
I: Approval of minutes
- Approved minutes January 24, 2024
II: Reports
- Officers Reports:
- Approved Fund Requests since the last meeting and purchased final treats. Treasurer Jayden Story reported the account balance as $7,823.29.
- President Victoria Dalton shared about the success of the student organization showcase from Wed, Jan 31.
- Arkansas Student Government Association constitution was signed by President Victoria on 1-29-24.
- Standing Committee Reports:
- Jayden agreed to reach out to Jackson House. Flyers need to be made.
- Ad Hoc Committee Reports
- Need to find faculty mentors for the peer mentoring committee.
III: Items for Action - Unfinished Business
- SGA pictures in Student Organization Room are finished, they will be put up.
- Victoria will create the cookie decorating flyer and members volunteered to go buy the cookie products for the event. The budget is $150 for about fifty cookies, sprinkles, and icing. Members also volunteered to go help on February 14, 2024, at the cookie decorating event. GroupMe will be created for spirit week updates. Victoria will start working on flyers for spirit week. Interclub will also reach out to the rest of the organizations about lip-sync for spirit week. Victoria mentioned the idea to start promoting spirit week events a week before and again the day before. Members agreed that the dance should be promoted sooner. Abigail agreed to work on the service day flyer.
- Review of Student Organizations website entries and officer updates. Victoria will talk to Write Hawks about approval. Eighteen organizations have approved.
- Kristina Hill and Alex Essary are the new freshman representatives. Motion was passed for them to be officially installed.
IV: Items for Action - New Business
- NAMI requested $16.40 reimbursed for candy that they used at their table at the Student Organization Showcase on Wed, Jan 31. Motion was passed.
- CDAC requested $90 for the talking circle that they are hosting on Wed, Feb 21. The money will be used for pizza from Dominos to serve at the talking circle. Motion was passed.
- The Creative Council requested $150 for trinket boxes. Motion was passed.
- Buying table clothes for new Student Organizations was tabled for after spirit week. A motion was created to wait until then. Motion was passed.
V: Business from the Floor
- Sheri Phillips shared her quick announcement about the poetry submissions. A member will promote the event on snapchat for students.
VI: Announcements
- Caysie discussed taking a transition for next semester. She explained how Victoria will start attending meetings to shadow her.
Motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 a.m.
