Five Nighthawks Named To All-Region Teams

Five members of the National Park College (NPC) softball team were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-Region 2 Teams this week for their outstanding efforts on the field this season.

Sophomore infielder/pitcher Maci Graves (Whitesboro, Texas) was selected to the All-Region 2 first team. The sophomore boasted a team-high .421 batting average this season, while also leading NPC in hits (67), triples (3), runs batted in (59) and total bases (125). At the plate, Graves set numerous records this season, becoming NPC’s single-season leader in hits and runs batted in while also tying single-game records in runs batted in (6), hits (5) and home runs (2). Graves currently ranks second all-time in home runs (16) and runs batted in (98), third all-time in walks (40), fourth all-time in hits (117) and doubles (23), sixth all-time in runs scored (74), eighth all-time in triples (4) and ninth all-time in stolen bases (24) at NPC.

Avery CreechSophomore pitcher Avery Creech (Logansport, Louisiana) was also named to the All-Region 2 second team. In her second season with the team, Creech recorded a team-best 3.64 ERA with nine wins and a team-high 93 strikeouts over a single-season record 153 and two-thirds innings pitched. Creech currently ranks third all-time in strikeouts (140) and fourth all-time in wins (17) and ERA (4.28) at NPC.

Sophomore outfielder Rachel Lawyer (Rockwall, Texas) brought home All-Region 2 secondRachel Lawyer team honors. Lawyer batted .336 for the Nighthawks this season with 45 hits, 36 runs scored, 35 runs batted in and 15 stolen bases while tying NPC’s single-game records in home runs (2) and doubles (3). Lawyer currently ranks fifth all-time in doubles (21) and runs batted in (61), eighth all-time in home runs (10) and 10th all-time in hits (84) at NPC.

Brooke LeBoeufFreshman designated player Brooke LeBoeuf (Berwick, Louisiana) received All-Region 2 second team honors. LeBoeuf hit .353 for the Nighthawks this season with 48 hits, 44 runs batted in and 32 runs scored.

Freshman catcher Kaitlyn Moreno (Lewisville, Texas) received All-Region 2 second teamKaitlyn Moreno honors. Behind a .346 batting average, the first-year Nighthawk set NPC’s single-season home run record (13) while driving in 55 runs, recording 53 hits and scoring 50 runs.

Following a 4-2 win over Carl Albert State College in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II Softball Southwest Plains District Tournament, the third-seeded Nighthawks face University of Arkansas Rich Mountain Thursday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m. at Ardmore Regional Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The tournament will be streamed in its entirety on the Nighthawk Network.
