National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk Athletics has named Nathan Bacon as its next head baseball coach.
Bacon brings more than a decade of collegiate coaching, recruiting and player development experience to NPC, along with a proven record of building competitive programs and preparing student-athletes for success at the next level. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, he most recently served as Assistant Baseball Coach at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, where he led recruiting efforts, developed pitching performance programs and mentored student-athletes in academic accountability and leadership.
Boasting a Master of Education in Educational, School and Counseling Psychology from
the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Avila University,
Bacon has also spent five seasons as Head Baseball Coach and HHP Instructor at Dordt
University in Sioux Center, Iowa. During his tenure, he directed all aspects of the
program, recruited nationally and internationally, guided the team to one of the winningest
periods in school history and developed All-Conference, All-Region, Academic All-Americans
and a professional signee. His leadership also included raising more than $30,000
annually through alumni engagement and donor relations.
Bacon’s coaching career also features extensive experience in the collegiate summer
league circuit, serving as Head Coach and General Manager in the Puerto Rico Collegiate
League, Mid-Atlantic Collegiate League and Beach Collegiate Baseball League. His national
recruiting reach is further strengthened through his role with Best in the US Tournaments,
where he helped manage elite showcase events attended by college and professional
scouts and connected high school athletes with four-year programs across the country.
“I am incredibly excited and honored to serve as the head baseball coach at National Park College,” Bacon said. “I want to sincerely thank Athletic Director Jeremy Winzer and the search committee for their trust and belief in me. Throughout the process, it was clear that NPC has a friendly and welcoming community, along with a strong commitment to supporting athletics. My wife, Jackie, and our kids are excited to join the Hot Springs Community. I’m excited to serve and lead this program while establishing a culture of success on the field, in the community and in the classroom.”
Bacon succeeds Rich Thompson, who became the Manager of the Arkansas Travelers, the Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
