Moreno Named Region 2 Player Of The Week

National Park College (NPC) freshman catcher Kaitlyn Moreno (Lewisville, Texas) has been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region 2 Player of the Week following a dominant week at the plate.

During week 10 of NJCAA reporting, Moreno led NPC (19-19, 11-7) offensively in a 4-0 series sweep over Arkansas State University Three Rivers. For the series, the freshman batted .615 with eight hits—including five doubles and two home runs—along with 11 RBI, seven runs scored and a stolen base. Her week was highlighted by a six-RBI performance in game four, tying NPC’s single-game RBI record.

The team leader in home runs (10) and RBI (41), Moreno is batting .339 for the Nighthawks this season with 39 hits, 30 runs scored, 10 walks and three stolen bases.

NPC currently holds a four-game lead atop the NJCAA Region 2 East Division standings and travels to Eastern Oklahoma State College today, April 14, for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The Nighthawks return home Thursday, April 16, for an NJCAA Region 2 doubleheader against SAU Tech beginning at noon. Game one will be streamed live on the Nighthawk Network.
