Six Nighthawks Named to All Region Teams

Six members of the National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s and women’s basketball teams were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-Region 2 Team this week for their outstanding efforts on the court this season.

Representing Nighthawk women’s basketball, sophomore guard Khyra Garrett (Brownsboro, Texas) was selected to the All-Region 2 first team. The sophomore tied for the team lead in scoring (333), while also leading NPC in free throws this season (94). Earlier this year, Garrett became the program’s all-time leader in blocks (73), shattering a record that stood for four seasons. Garrett currently ranks second all-time in scoring at NPC (604), while ranking third all-time in free throws (155), fourth all-time in rebounds (257), assists (125) and steals (114) and sixth all-time in three-pointers (47).Khyra Garrett

Sophomore center Landrey Richardson (Grannis) was also named to the All-Region 2 first team. Averaging 12.3 points per game, Richardson tied for the team lead in scoring (333) while leading the Nighthawks in blocks (38). Richardson currently ranks second all-time in rebounds (305), third all-time in blocks (62), fourth all-time in scoring (473), seventh all-time in free throws (88) and eighth all-time in steals (59).

Sophomore forward Aaliyah Hollins (Nashville) brought home All-Region 2 second team honors. In addition to a team-leading 54.5 field goal shooting percentage, Hollins led NPC in rebounding (255) this season, becoming the program’s all-time leader (390). Hollins currently ranks fifth all-time in assists (98), sixth all-time in steals (87) and 10th all-time in scoring (341).kaharie loggins

Sophomore guard Khayla Garrett (Brownsboro, Texas) was named All-Region Honorable Mention. Garrett led NPC in assists this season (107), becoming the program’s all-time leader (232). Garrett currently ranks second all-time in steals (142), fourth all-time in free throws (122), fifth all-time in blocks (30), seventh all-time in scoring (441) and three-pointers (36) and eighth all-time in rebounds (223).

Representing men’s basketball, sophomore forward Kaharie Loggins (Chicago, Illinois) took home All-Region 2 first team honors. Behind a 60.0 field goal shooting percentage, one of the best in the nation, Loggins served as NPC’s leader in free throws (141), blocks (36) and offensive rebounds (85) this season, while becoming the second Nighthawk in program history to record a triple double. Loggins completes his Nighthawk career ranked fifth all-time in free throws (141) and blocks (36) and eighth all-time in scoring (552).

Sophomore forward Pete Moe II (Indianapolis, IN) was named to the All-Region 2 second team. Moe led NJCAA Region 2 in scoring (636), while serving as NPC’s leader in assists (88), defensive rebounds (135) and total rebounds (217). In his lone season with NPC, Moe finishes his Nighthawk career ranked sixth all-time in free throws (105), seventh all-time in scoring (636) and ninth all-time in rebounds (217).Pete Moe II

NPC men’s basketball recently concluded its season in the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament with an 81-79 loss to top-seeded Arkansas State University Mid-South at North Arkansas College in Harrison.

Nighthawk women’s basketball recently captured its second-consecutive NJCAA Region 2 Championship with a 76-68 win over North Arkansas College in Harrison. NPC plays host to Jefferson College in the Central Plains District Championship Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. in The Kettle with a trip to the NJCAA Division 2 Women’s Basketball National Tournament on the line.
