Two members of the National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk softball team (15-13) earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 2 honors this week for their outstanding efforts on the diamond.
Freshman third baseman Bre Phillips (Conway) was named Region 2 Player of the Week. For week eight of the 2025 season, Phillips tallied seven runs, six hits, five RBI and four walks as NPC swept both ASU-Three Rivers and ASU-Newport in NJCAA Region 2 play.
Phillips is batting .400 this season while leading the Nighthawks in hits (30), home runs (4), RBI (17), walks (17) and runs scored (23).
Sophomore pitcher Bailee Cowell (Clarksville) was named Region 2 Pitcher of the Week.
Cowell went 2-0 in the circle over the week, allowing just three total hits over 10
scoreless innings, while striking out 14 batters. NPC’s ace is 8-4 in the circle this
season with a team-leading 2.82 ERA, while leading the Nighthawks in strikeouts (50).
