National Park College Foundation Announces Second Annual 'A Night Of Art' Event

An eight piece compliation of student art pieces that showcase different topics such as still life, digital art, charcoal drawings and a 1984 book cover.

The National Park College Foundation, in collaboration with the College’s Digital and Media Arts Program, will host the second annual ‘A Night of Art’ event Thursday evening, April 17. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the NPC Student Commons will be transformed into a stunning digital, media and fine arts showcase created by NPC art students.

Assistant Director of the NPC Foundation, Shannon LaDuke, explained, “This year, we have a record number of students completing their capstone projects, and we are excited to unveil their impressive talents. In addition to the showcase, we are thrilled to introduce a new feature: the student lounge will be turned into a gallery where guests can purchase original works of art from our talented students.”

Jessica Bates, a digital and media arts major, and Rose Whitley, an art education major, were selected by their professors as standouts for the event.

Jennifer Seward, assistant professor of graphic design, arts and humanities, said, “Jessica is a non-traditional student who left the nursing field to pursue a new career. She is one of the hardest working students I have ever had. Her passion is photography, and with the skills she has learned in this program, she will be able to not only take professional photos but market and brand her work. Jessica's hard work and determination will take her far.”

Assistant Professor of Art, Lana Taliaferro, said, “Rose is an outstanding student who has decided to use her artistic talents within the field of education.  Her strength as an artist lies in her ability to adhere to processes that require a great amount of self-discipline and self-discovery. I couldn't be prouder of the artwork she is making and her passion for teaching future generations.”

Creative hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served and guests will enjoy a variety of mocktails hand-crafted onsite by local restaurants. Jacob Flores, NPC alum, will provide live entertainment for the evening.

“Last year’s inaugural ‘A Night of Art’ raised over $20,000 for NPC’s student success initiatives which included scholarship opportunities, and we are eager to make this year even bigger and better,” added LaDuke.

Nicole Herndon, executive director of the NPC Foundation, shared, "A Night of Art is more than just a fundraiser—it’s an opportunity for our art students across all mediums to experience the value of showcasing their work and sharing their talents with the community. This event not only highlights their creativity but also reinforces the importance of their artistic journey. The funds raised through ‘A Night of Art’ will directly support student success, providing resources and opportunities that benefit all students across campus. I encourage everyone to attend and see firsthand the impact of investing in NPC students."
