National Park College (NPC) celebrated its second annual "A Night of Art" Thursday, April 17, bringing the community together for an evening of creativity and connection. The event, held at the Student Commons, featured student artwork, live music, and a variety of hors d'oeuvres and mocktails.
Shannon LaDuke, assistant director of the NPC Foundation, praised the event's success. "This year’s 'A Night of Art' was a beautiful example of community coming together. Throughout the evening, NPC’s talented art students had the opportunity to engage and connect with our guests, sharing the stories behind their creations. Over 200 pieces of student art were sold, marking a proud moment for everyone involved," LaDuke said.
The Student Commons was transformed into a vibrant space, with both floors filled
with live music, creative hors d'oeuvres and mocktails. Local restaurants created
and served unique mocktails, including Pop Art Punch from Ouachita Bar and Grill,
Prickly Pear Mockarita from the Bugler, Tiramisu Espresso Mocktini from Indulge, and
Kickin’ Tropical Mockarita from the Ohio Club.
Nicole Herndon, executive director of the NPC Foundation, highlighted the evening's success and the positive feedback from artists and the community. "The addition of the Night of Art pop-up shop brought an exciting new twist, allowing guests to purchase artwork that benefits not only the students but the college as well," Herndon stated.
Chef Nathan Poor impressed attendees with his menu, which included buffalo black truffle deviled eggs, brisket sliders with blueberry BBQ and twisted ginger slaw, spicy avocado crostini, caprese shooters, jalapeno popper pinwheels, and a standout charcuterie table. One-man band Jacob Flores added to the upstairs atmosphere with his eclectic mix of live music.
Additionally, NPC's continuing education department provided ceramics and painted originals, while the welding department showcased hand-crafted roses.
LaDuke concluded, "it was definitely a night to remember, and we are already making plans for 'A Night of Art' 2026."
