Logan Nies rounding second base. Two members of the National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk softball team were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II All-Region 2 Team this week for their outstanding efforts on the field this season.

Sophomore shortstop Logan Nies (Rockwall, Texas) led NPC in doubles, home runs, runs batted in and slugging percentage this season. Nies broke NPC’s all-time records for home runs and doubles this season, while leading the Nighthawks to their second-consecutive NJCAA Region II Championship round appearance.

“Logan came into this year feeling like she had some unfinished business to handle and she did just that,” NPC Head Softball Coach Autumn Wyatt said. “What a great way to end her career here at NPC!”

Freshman designated player Karlee Marrall (Perryville) boasted a strong bat all season long and was critical to NPC’s postseason success. Against Carl Albert State College in the Region II Tournament opener, Marrall contributed the walk-off hit to secure NPC’s 11-10 victory. One game later, Marrall’s solo home run against University of Arkansas Rich Mountain sparked a four-run rally in the seventh inning as NPC rallied from behind to beat the Bucks.

“Karlee suffered an injury that put her out for our entire fall season,” Wyatt said. “Watching her bounce back and earn All-Region honors was so exciting and is a testament to her resilience.”Karlee Marrall high-fiving the third base coach.

NPC (26-23) recently completed its season as NJCAA Region II runners up, falling to No. 3 Murray State College in the final.
