The National Park College (NPC) Board of Trustees received an update on the Redbud Hall building project this week. The information was presented Wednesday during the regular monthly Board meeting.
Vice President for Administration, Kelli Embry shared that Redbud Hall would contain 176 beds and would include a total square footage of 42,000. Together, Dogwood and Redbud Halls will provide 386 beds for students.
On campus student housing is a critical need for students. While Dogwood Hall currently fulfills a portion of that need, it has been oversubscribed since 2022 even though the college increased the number of beds from 180 to 210 in 2022, and again to 240 in 2023.
NPC has been working toward a plan to increase student housing since 2022. A bond sale in fall 2023 provided the funding needed to begin construction on Redbud Hall.
“It is exciting to begin work on the College’s second residence hall. This is a critical need for students and we are grateful to our partners at Servitas for their support and leadership on this project,” said Embry.
A groundbreaking ceremony will be scheduled for early spring. Rebud Hall is scheduled to open in Summer 2025.
“I appreciate the Board for supporting this project and for continuing NPC’s investment in student success as our highest priority. Expanding our capacity for on-campus housing was an easy decision to make. It was what our students needed and affirms that their voices have been heard,” said NPC president, Dr. John Hogan.
