NPC Hosts Nursing And Health Sciences Honors Day
National Park College (NPC) hosted a Nursing and Health Sciences Honors Day Thursday.
More than $140,000 in scholarships were awarded to nursing and health sciences students.
A total of 176 scholarships and awards were presented to students from community organizations
and private donors, many of whom are alumni of NPC programs.
The event included NPC’s nursing and allied health programs including Registered Nursing,
Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN), Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Medical
Laboratory Technology, Health Information Technology, and Emergency Medical Services
(EMT and Paramedic).
Janice Ivers, Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences, expressed gratitude to donors for
their unwavering support. "We come together every year in April to celebrate our students
and their achievements," said Ivers. "We also hold this time to honor our donors and
to reflect on their attitude of hard work and dedication that made these scholarships
possible."
Ivers emphasized the role of donors in providing not only financial assistance but
also mental encouragement to students. "The scholarship award gives students a vote
of confidence and the encouragement they need to persevere," she noted. She expressed
hope that witnessing the generosity of previous graduates and donors would inspire
current students to give back to their profession in the future.
