The No. 1 ranked National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s basketball team (27-1)
received an at-large invitation to compete in the National Junior College Athletics
Association (NJCAA) Division 2 Men’s Basketball National Tournament, held March 18-23
at the Mary Miller Center in Danville, Illinois.
The tournament will feature a 20-team field, including 16 automatic district qualifiers
and four at-large invitations. In today’s selection show, provided by the NJCAA Network,
NPC was selected as the No. 5 seed and will face No. 12 seed Johnson County Community
College Monday, March 18 at 6 p.m.
“Our guys have shown all year that they are one of the best teams in the nation and
are deserving of the at-large bid,” NPC men’s basketball head coach Dillon Hargrove
said. “We would like to thank the committee for their consideration to include us
in this year’s tournament. Johnson County Community College is a very good team. They
are well-coached and we are excited to prepare for them.”
“We are so incredibly proud of our young men for a great season that is not over yet,”
NPC Athletic Director Rich Thompson said. “We would like to thank the NJCAA committee
for giving us an at-large bid to the national tournament and we look forward to following
the Nighthawks every step of the way.”
The 2024 NJCAA Division 2 National Tournament will be streamed live by the NJCAA Network.
