Breshears, Pacheco Lead NPC At Chile Pepper XC Festival

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 36th annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival Saturday at Agri Park.

Freshman Bethany Breshears (Hot Springs) was NPC’s top finisher in the Women’s Prairie Fire Pepper 5K, finishing 174th with a time of 28:25.2. Freshman Ava Ellison (Hot Springs) improved her 5K time by more than 15 minutes, finishing 176th with a personal record time of 28:34.0.

In the Men’s Prairie Fire Pepper 8K race, freshman Alex Pacheco (Hot Springs) led NPC with a personal record time of 29:08.7 for a 68th place finish. Freshman Zach Waggoner (Arkadelphia) finished 124th in the event, clocking in at 31:06.2, while freshmen Wyatt Peters (Hot Springs) and Conner Robertson (Hot Springs) finished 212th and 214th, respectively, with times of 44:51.3 and 49:18.2.
