National Park College (NPC) Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) apprenticeship student, Steven Steuart is making strides in his studies. A native of Malvern, Arkansas, Steuart is a third-generation graduate of Malvern High School, having completed his high school education in 2010.
Steuart shared his reasons for pursuing an HVAC apprenticeship: “It’s something that my company does. It’s offered, and it’s very interesting. I already went through the electrical apprentice program. So, I figured the next logical step was HVAC.” He is set to graduate from NPC in 2026.
Steuart chose NPC primarily for its proximity to his home. “It’s close to home,” he says, adding that the convenience of being just 30 minutes away is a significant advantage.
Looking ahead, Steuart plans to continue working in the trades with the ultimate goal of running his own company. “The end game is to run my own company. That’s probably not going to happen for another 10 years,” he notes.
HVAC instructor, Rogie Huchingson said, “I think Steven will be very successful in the HVAC industry.” Reflecting on his coursework, Steuart says, “I’m learning things that I didn’t even know existed, because I deal primarily in the residential HVAC industry, and we’re learning about the commercial, industrial stuff. So, I’m exposed to stuff that I wouldn’t normally be exposed to.”
Steuart received the Sanders Charitable Foundation Scholarship. To those who made this possible, he extends his gratitude: “Thank you very much.”
In addition to his studies, Steuart, an avid outdoorsman, enjoys hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and camping. He works for Millwright Construction where his boss is a master electrician, master HVAC technician, and general contractor. “We do a little bit of everything,” he adds, highlighting the diverse skill set he is developing.
