The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk women’s soccer team (0-5) dropped its match against Itawamba Community College at Hot Springs World Class High School Sunday, 10-0.
Beginning with a full squad for the first time this season, NPC began the match with an aggressive offensive push as freshman striker Madison Hernandez (Brownsboro, Texas) attempted a shot on goal in the opening seconds. Midway through the first half, however, NPC sustained three first-half injuries, forcing the Nighthawks to finish the match with nine available student-athletes. Itawamba Community College took the lead on a penalty kick and added two additional goals down the stretch to take a 3-0 advantage into halftime.
In the second half, NPC struggled to keep up with the Indians, allowing seven goals in defeat.
National Park College plays host to University of Arkansas-Cossatot to open NJCAA Region II play Wednesday, September 18, at 2 p.m. The match will be streamed live on the Nighthawk Network. The Nighthawk men travel to Dallas College-Mountain View Wednesday, September 11, at 4 p.m.
