Nighthawks Fall To Bengals

Lucas Story dribbles the soccer ball down the field.

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s soccer team (2-6-1) was defeated by LSU Eunice Saturday, 2-1.

In the first half, defense reigned supreme for each team, resulting in a scoreless match after 45 minutes. Five minutes into the second half, however, the Bengals broke the stalemate on a header past freshman goalkeeper Tim Grahmann (Rudesheim am Rhein, Germany). Late in the match, LSU Eunice extended its lead, punching in a second goal with 3:50 to play. With its back against the wall, NPC continued to fight, lighting up the scoreboard on a deep strike from freshman midfielder Lucas Story (Lavon, Texas) with 1:54 remaining. Time was not on the Nighthawks’ side, however, as NPC fell short in its last-minute comeback attempt.

Grahmann recorded three saves for the Nighthawks in the loss.

National Park College returns home Wednesday, October 9 against Crowder College. The Nighthawk women celebrate Sophomore Day at 2 p.m. followed by men’s action at 4 p.m. [np.edu/live]The matches will be streamed live by the Nighthawk Network.
