Holman, who began her college journey two decades after completing high school, has demonstrated remarkable academic success, maintaining a 3.95 GPA. Since joining TRIO in 2022, she has been an active participant in the program’s workshops, cultural activities, and events, earning the affection and respect of both the TRIO staff and her fellow students.

Reflecting on her decision, Holman shared, “In a world where technology continually reshapes the job market, what better decision than to be the person that repairs the machine that could have possibly replaced me?”

Student Support Services Program Coordinator, Robyn Hendrix said, “April has been an excellent representative of our TRIO program here at National Park College by attending all activities and events.”

Holman graduated on in May, marking the culmination of her dedication and hard work. She said, “I am ecstatic to be recognized for all the work I put into maintaining my GPA. TRIO is a great program.; iIt provides many things. I would not have made it through without their help.”

Each year, the TRIO staff selects a student who embodies the TRIO spirit as TRIO SSS Student of the Year. This student is recognized nationally as a TRIO Achiever and is included in a booklet that is hand-delivered to members of the United States Congress in Washington D.C.
