The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s basketball team won its NJCAA Region
II semifinal game against North Arkansas College Saturday, 107-86.
In a game in which NPC (19-8) never trailed, the Nighthawks erupted on a 14-2 run
to start the game and never looked back. Paced by impressive three-point shooting
from sophomore guards Ty-Shon Pannell (Long Island, New York) and Justin Davis (Waterbury,
Connecticut), NPC built a comfortable lead early, cruising to a 61-45 halftime advantage.
In the second half, NPC kept its foot on the gas—building a lead as large as 30 points,
87-57, with 12:34 to play. Behind nine-point efforts from sophomore forward Quinntez
Grimes (Dallas, Texas) and freshman guards Patrick Punch (Houston, Texas) and Nakavieon
White (Odessa, Texas), NPC soared to the finish line, achieving the program’s first
trip to the NJCAA Region II Championship game.
White led the Nighthawks in scoring with 21 points. Pannell and freshman guard Ja’Bryant
Hill (Duncanville, Texas) added 18 points apiece, while Punch and Davis contributed
17 points each. Grimes finished with 16 points in the win.
The Nighthawks face Arkansas State University Mid-South in the NJCAA Region II Championship
at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Harding University in Searcy. The game will be streamed live
on the Nighthawk Network.
