The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s basketball team ascended the National
Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 2 rankings for the fifth-consecutive
week, placing third in Monday’s poll.
Amid its program-best 11-0 start to the season, NPC currently ranks among the top
10 teams in the nation in points scored, field goal percentage, assists and steals.
Since the beginning of the season, the Nighthawks have held national rankings of 20th,
11th, 7th and 5th before climbing two spots this week—receiving two first place votes
in the process.
Sophomore forward Nakavieon White (Odessa, Texas) leads the Nighthawks in scoring
with 18.5 points per game while also serving as the team’s leader in field goals,
free throws, rebounds, assists and blocks. Individually, White ranks in the top 10,
nationally, in assists and defensive rebounds.
“It’s great to see the continued rise to No. 3,” NPC Athletic Director Rich Thompson
said. “Each week, they continue breaking the record of highest ranking of any program
at NPC. We have a big weekend ahead of us in The Kettle and we hope to finish 2023
on an even higher note.”
Nighthawk men’s basketball will host the third annual Nighthawk Holiday Classic December
