NPTC Students Earn HOSA Awards

National Park Technology Center (NPTC) students competed in the Future Health Professionals competition last month, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA).

HOSA is an international career and technical student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Technology Education Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE).

Each spring, Arkansas HOSA - Future Health Professionals hosts a State Leadership Conference for members. The conference gives student members who have become involved in HOSA the opportunity to further develop and build leadership skills, and acquire health care related competencies through competitive events.

This year’s winners included:

  • Riley Harvey, Cutter Morning Star High School, Bronze in Biotechnology
  • Sckarleth Sierra, Lake Hamilton High School, Bronze in Physical Therapy
  • Kelsea Williams, Lake Hamilton High School, Silver in Physical Therapy
  • Yessenia Morales, Fountain Lake High School, Silver in Clinical Nursing
  • Lexy Lewis and LeiAnna Netterville, Lake Hamilton High School, Gold in EMT competition
  • Emilio Villasenor, Lakeside High School, Gold in Medical Terminology

The gold medal winners will receive a scholarship to National Park College that covers the cost of tuition and fees for up to four semesters.
