The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s soccer team picked up its sixth win
of the season Friday, defeating John Brown University, 3-0.
Against the Golden Eagles, NPC (6-0-2) struck three times in the first half and rode
its strong defense to the finish line. Freshman winger Paulo Ndenzako (Memphis, Tennessee)
started the scoring for the Nighthawks with his team-leading fourth goal of the season
17 minutes into the match, assisted by sophomore midfielder Andre Uriando (São Paulo,
Brazil). With help from sophomore center back Kevin Puente (Fort Worth, Texas), Uriando
found the back of the net 14 minutes later to give NPC a 2-0 advantage. With 10 minutes
remaining in the first half, sophomore winger Jack Avery (Brighton, England) added
the Nighthawks’ final goal of the game on an assist from freshman right back Tim Heck
(Frankfurt, Germany).
Throughout the second half, NPC’s tough defensive front proved to be too much for
the Golden Eagles to overcome as the Nighthawks soared to victory.
NPC men’s and women’s soccer opens NJCAA Region 2 play Saturday, September 23 against
University of Arkansas-Cossatot. Women’s action begins at 3 p.m., followed by men’s
action at 5 p.m.
