Men's Soccer Defeats Lions, Women Draw

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s and women’s soccer played host to Dallas College-Mountain View at Hot Springs World Class High School Sunday, with the women taking a 0-0 draw and the men earning a 2-0 victory.

Despite 15 shots on goal, including three in the final minute of play, the Nighthawk women (1-8-2) were unable to get past Mountain View’s goalkeeper, resulting in NPC’s second draw of the season. Freshman goalkeeper Cynthia Lopez (Carthage, Texas) picked up four saves in the draw.

Paced by three second half goals, the Nighthawk men (10-0-2) took command late to remained undefeated. Freshman winger Ali Muganga (Nashville, Tennessee) lit up the scoreboard for NPC at the 65-minute mark, assisted by sophomore striker Felix Rocca (Leipzig, Germany). The Nighthawks got back on the board 10 minutes later on a goal from sophomore winger Jack Avery (Brighton, England), assisted by sophomore midfielder Zakariya Abdi (Houston, Texas). Assisted by freshman midfielder Kevin Quevedo (Katy, Texas), NPC converted its final goal on a 45-yard strike from sophomore center back Kevin Puente (Fort Worth, Texas) to send the Nighthawks to their sixth-consecutive win of the season.

NPC men’s soccer plays host to North Arkansas College in NJCAA Region 2 play Wednesday, October 11 at Hot Springs World Class High School at 7 p.m. [np.edu/live]The match will be streamed live on the Nighthawk Network. The Nighthawk women return to action Sunday, October 15 at Crowder College.
