Nighthawk Men Soar To 3-0 Start

NPC men's basketball player Keryn Colins dribbles down court.The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk men’s basketball team remained undefeated on the season Tuesday, defeating Central Baptist College’s junior varsity team, 97-75, in NPC’s home opener.

Enduring a back-and-forth battle for the first 10 minutes, NPC found its offensive rhythm and surged to a double-digit advantage, 27-17, with 7:17 to play in the first half. Led by 18 first-half points from sophomore guard Keryn Collins (Dallas, Texas), including four three-pointers, NPC cruised to a 45-33 halftime lead.

The Nighthawks spread their scoring among multiple players in the second half. Sophomore guard Siddiq Canty (Dallas, Texas) contributed 11 points over the final 20 minutes, while Collins and sophomore guard Brody Tucker (Kirby) added nine points apiece to NPC to its third-straight victory.

Recording a block midway through the first half, sophomore forward Nakavieon White (Odessa, Texas) became NPC’s all-time leader in blocked shots, passing former Nighthawk Garett Powell. White finished with three blocks in the game.

Collins led the Nighthawks in scoring with 27 points. Canty added 20 points, while Tucker finished with 11 points in the win.

The Nighthawks travel to Kansas City, Kansas this weekend to compete in the Kansas City Kansas Community College Classic. NPC faces North Central Missouri College Friday at 4 p.m. and Metropolitan Community College Saturday at 2 p.m.
