National Park College (NPC) student Katelynn Westfall-Gallegos from Hot Springs was
named student of the month for April.
Westfall-Gallegos is a sophomore majoring in dietetics and was nominated by several
faculty members.
Westfall-Gallegos is an officer in many on-campus clubs, including president of the
Helping Hawks Food Pantry. She has greatly expanded the resources and services provided
by the food pantry by adding toiletry items and starting a greenhouse garden to grow
fresh produce and herbs for the food pantry.
Westfall-Gallegos enjoys reading, writing, drawing, and cooking in her free time.
She said, “On my day off, I will go to the grocery store and spend all day cooking.”
“Westfall-Gallegos is a leader inside and outside the classroom. She has been a catalyst
to help encourage and drive other classmates to succeed in my class, in other classes,
and on the TEAS Nursing Entrance Exam, explained Dr. Gwendolyn Carter, Anatomy and
Physiology instructor.
Carter added, “Katelynn is passionate in her dedication to student health and environmental
sustainability on our campus.”
