National Park College (NPC) named Vicky Sanders as the 2022 Outstanding Alumna during
the annual Employee Recognition Day celebration last week.
Sanders graduated from the NPC nursing program in 1986 and considers herself a lifelong
learner. While working in a hospital setting, she enrolled in NPC’s EMT program in
1994 to better understand the role of EMTs and how it related to her work. In 2000,
she completed a Bachelor of Science in nursing and received a Master of Science in
Nursing and Leadership Management from Capella University in 2016.
Sanders is currently the Director of Care Coordination for CHI St. Vincent at both
the Hot Springs and the Morrilton campuses. She is a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt,
a certification that requires dedication and effort in management and leadership.
She is also a member of the American Nursing Association, Arkansas Nurse Association,
American Association of Critical Care Nurses and many more professional organizations.
She devotes her time to supporting the health care system and the challenges they
face daily.
During the early part of the COVID-19 outbreak Sanders played a vital role on the
Garland County Emergency Task Force with the Office of Emergency Management. She went
on to advocate for students to be allowed into facilities for clinical education needs
when COVID-19 shut down clinicals for students.
Sanders has served on the NPC Nursing Division Advisory Committee and is a champion
for nursing education. “She has played and will continue to play a vital role in leading
and growing our new nurses to become great nurses and nurse leaders, just as she has
modeled in her 36 year career. She represents her alma mater well,” said Dean of Nursing
and Health Sciences, Janice Ivers.
