Bookout Receives Artists' Workshop Scholarship
National Park College (NPC) student Patience Bookout was awarded the Artists’ Workshop
Scholarship. She is pursuing a degree in Digital and Media Arts and plans to graduate
in 2024. After completing her associate degree, she plans to take advantage of the
two plus two bachelor’s degree programs at NPC through University of Arkansas at Little
Rock (UALR).
The Artists’ Workshop Scholarship is awarded to a student that is selected by NPC
art faculty members. The funds may be used to purchase art supplies for class.
“I want to be able to pursue art as a career, even if I can only do it part-time.
I want to help create stories for others to enjoy and be inspired by,” said Bookout.
When asked why she chose to attend NPC, Bookout noted, “I live in Hot Springs and
it is also an affordable college to start my educational career. I love how open it
feels. It feels like a second home, even though I don’t live on campus.”
“Patience is a multiskilled designer. She is an excellent illustrator and does a wonderful
job incorporating her illustrations into her work. She is also a very thoughtful designer,
taking care to create work that has depth and meaning. We are excited to have her
in our program,” said Jennifer Seward, assistant professor of Digital and Media Arts.
“Thank you so much for this opportunity. I hope to continue to be worthy of your expectations
of me,” added Bookout.
