Oaklawn Foundation Awards NPC $500K Grant For Labs, Security Upgrades

National Park College

National Park College (NPC) announced a $500,000 grant from the Oaklawn Foundation Wednesday. The announcement was made during the regular monthly meeting of the NPC Board of Trustees. The Board approved Resolution 2022-G, officially naming two of NPC’s science labs the Oaklawn Foundation Science Labs.

The grant will be used for equipment and other resources for the College’s science labs, as well as several security upgrades. Equipment for the science labs include an autoclave, calorimeter, vacuum pump system, magnetic susceptibility balance, culture loop incinerators, and other specimen and lab kits. Security upgrades include key card access for exterior entrances to instructional buildings, increases to security video storage, and upgraded security cameras.

The mission of the Oaklawn Foundation is to support education and the aging community. The Oaklawn Foundation has made previous investments in the College’s gymnasium and Hospitality and Tourism Center.

Forrest Spicher, NPC Board Chair thanked the Oaklawn Foundation representatives in attendance for their generous gift. “Once again, The Oaklawn Foundation is supporting NPC students and campus growth. This gift will have a lasting impact on our students and their success, and I am grateful for your important investment.”

NPC President, Dr. John Hogan expressed gratitude to the Oaklawn Foundation for their continued support of NPC students and said the community was fortunate for the organization’s support of local education and seniors. “Providing the funds to fully equip two of our science labs, as well as investing in some significant security upgrades will further enhance the NPC student experience. Students will learn on the latest equipment on a campus that is more safe and secure.”
