National Park College (NPC) student Nykole Dixon was recently awarded the Dora Jane
Ledgerwood Ellis Scholarship. She is completing an Associate of Science Liberal Arts
Science, Music.
“I chose music education for my degree because of my love for music and children,”
noted Nixon. “I want to be able to share my passion for music to our younger generations
by teaching them.”
Dixon chose to start at NPC because it was close to home and because of the quality
of the faculty.
NPC music instructor and choral director Ferris Allen said, “Nykole is an outstanding
music student. She is very talented, but also hard working and goal-oriented. She
is not just interested in the sound of her own voice, but instead pays attention to
the deeper meaning of the pieces she performs. Nykole is also a kind and helpful person,
so her presence in choir or any music class inevitably lifts up all students. Her
presence will be missed after she graduates in December."
Dixon stated, “I would like to thank all the donors that made this scholarship possible.
With the help from the donors, it allows students to accomplish their degrees without
being in financial trouble coming out of college. So, thank you to all the donors
for setting NPC students up for success.”
