Nighthawks Down Eagles

National Park College Basketball

The National Park College (NPC) Nighthawks men’s basketball team (13-5) reentered the win column on Monday, defeating Williams Baptist University’s junior varsity team, 100-71.

Hot shooting set the pace for NPC early, providing the momentum needed for the Nighthawks to take a comfortable 43-31 halftime lead. With a combination of strong defensive performances from off the bench and great three-point shooting, the Nighthawks cruised through the second half to notch their 13th victory of the season.

Freshman Kylil Anderson (Fort Worth, TX) led the Nighthawks in scoring with 15 points, while freshman Garett Powell (Springboro, OH) and sophomore Jaylen O’Conner (Oklahoma City, OK) each added 14 points. Freshman Kade Shaffer (Russellville) scored 13 points, while sophomores Kam Vick (Little Rock), Sayvon Traylor (Atlanta, GA) and freshman DeCorey Watkins (Little Rock) contributed 10 points apiece in the win.

The Nighthawk men and women return to action Saturday, Jan. 22 at South Arkansas Community College in El Dorado. The women tip off at 2 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m.
